What can you expect:
I really like to bring out the best in people and for this reason there will be an introduction morning on Tuesday, where you will learn about the basics of setting up a painting and about colours. It will also give me a chance to get to know you, and to find out what your strengths and weaknesses are.
On Wednesday morning we will all paint the same subject, for example a flamenco dancer. Wednesday afternoon and Thursday we will work on a subject that interests you. This can be a landscape, portrait or even a mandala or intuitive painting. On Friday we will work in the afternoon instead of the morning which will give you a chance to have a morning off to explore the village or the near surroundings. There is a great, typical Spanish market on Friday mornings in the (very)nearby town of Almuñécar. Saturday is our last painting day (morning) and we will again work on a subject of your choice.
Whether you are a beginner or a more experienced painter… I will help you to get in touch with your creativity and get you to your next level. We will work on special canvas paper and acrylics paper so you will have no problems taking your artwork home, either rolled up or flat in your suitcase.
You will stay in a nice hotel or apartment of your choice in the beautiful fisherman’s village of la Herradura. There are different types of hotels and appartments in La Herradura and prices do of course vary. Because I would like you to choose your own level of comfort the price of the accommodation is not included in the painting week. If you like I can help you find the right accommodation for you. For this you can contact me.
About la Herradura
La Herradura is a nice, still very Spanish oriented coastal village with a lot of beach restaurants and bars. In the province of Granada it is still custom to be served a tapa with each drink, for example fish, meat or a tortilla… it is always a surprise! In addition you are only an hour away from the beautiful city of Granada . A real must!
Programme of the painting week
All materials and coffee/tea and refreshments are included.
Monday: arrival at the hotel and in the early evening a drink and a tapa in one of the sea-front bars in the village.
Tuesday: painting morning in my studio in the village. Classes are from 09.30 to 13.30. On this day you will be introduced to setting up a painting, how to make a sketch, why observation is so important and much more, including how to mix colours. You have the afternoon off to explore the village and relax.
Wednesday: Painting day from 9.30 to 13.00 and again from 16.00 to 18.30.
Thursday: painting morning. from 09.30 to 13.30.
On Friday the class is from 15.00 to 18.30.
The location may vary depending on the weather and classes. One day (which day will depend on the weather forecast) we will go to a typical Spanish cortijo not far from the village to paint outside. After a morning of painting you will enjoy a fantastic tapas lunch and this will be followed by a guided walk with explanation about avocados, nisperas and chirimoyas on the working farm.
Saturday: last painting morning – from 9.30 to 13.00 followed by lunch on the sea front.
Sunday, Monday or Tuesday (your choice) departure. La Herradura is a beautiful little village and close to very interesting towns such as Nerja, Almuñécar… You can also go to Granada for a day, there are regular bus services and it is hightly recommendable to pay this magic town a visit.
The price for this fantastic week is € 425.– per person, (excluding hotel, transfer, flights). This includes the 2 painting sessions of 4 hours each, 3 painting sessions of 3.5 hours each and one painting session of 2.5 hours, plus all materials. It also includes the introduction drink and tapa on the day of arrival, a tapas lunch in the cortijo (wheather permitting, but with approximately 330 sunny days per year there is a high chance that it will- should this not be possible the lunch will be served in my home) and lunch on the seafront on the last day.
You need to book your own flight and take care of transport from the airport to la Herradura and back. There are regular buses during the day to La Herradura, or you can rent a car.
