There are plenty of activities happening in La Herradura during the Christmas season, but sometimes it is also nice to go out for a cultural day trip and pay a visit to another town or village. Almuñécar is of course on the doorstep and easy to reach for shopping and interesting cultural events which you can check out in www.almunecar-cultural.eu.
However, sometimes a change of scene will do us good and if you missed the Art exhibition of Renate van Nijen (the initiator of this magazine) in the Sala municipal in Nerja you still get a second chance to view her flamenco paintings in a Salamandra. This is a new pub/restaurant on the square above the municipal underground parking. Turn right at the church in the direction of the Tourist Office, and cross the large square).
Salamandra is a restaurant with a difference, offering exquisite lunches with beautifully presented dishes. And do try the mint tea, it is delicious and your coffee and tea is served with a treat. You are welcome for a drink and/or a bite and a drink from 12.00 to 22.00. And do feel free to walk in to admire the artwork by Renate. Salamandra will have a new art exhibition every three months. This lovely restaurant is located next to the Nerja Museum so a great way to soak up some culture. The artwork is of course for sale.
