A few months ago I was gifted some canvases and oil paints amongst other things, and I decided to have a go again at oils. I used to only paint with oil paint for over two decades, but then, actually through starting up art classes, I discovered acrylics, which was easier to work with. I kind of fell in love with the acrylics and since then I’ve been painting mostly in acrylics, apart from the occasional oil painting. However, I decided to give the oils another go and below I will show you two paintings I’ve created fairly recently.

Metta LH 64.5×92 cm  painting of a bull, (toro) symbol of Spain, the land of mountains and sea! Part of a series of bull paintings. Since it’s the year of the ox this feels appropriate. The painting was created on an old canvas and I chose to show the edges, it gives it more charm I feel. My bull carries a message which will only be revealed when the time is ripe. This time it’s an oil painting. I haven’t worked in oils for quite some time and it was strange to go back to it! I like to paint friendly Spanish bulls as I call them since I live in Spain – and just so you know… I’m against fighting them, running with them and eating them as I don’t think any of these are good for the planet and wellbeing of any living creature, including humans. Bull LH acrylics 60 x 80 x 3 cm. I’ve really enjoyed painting my bulls. This is an acrylic painting of a bull, (toro) symbol of Spain, the land of mountains and sea! This bull is part of a series of bull paintings. I like to paint friendly Spanish bulls and have created them with an intention in mind. A positive intention, you could say a blessing for the person who will become the owner of this painting. I live in Spain. I always work in series, and this time, in the year of the ‘ox’ I’ve decided to create some bull paintings.   If you like to get more updates about my books and my art, feel free to follow my Art and books Facebook page. This Buddha is called Metta Buddha. It carries a special energy and a message for those who feel attracted to this painting. It is an oil painting on canvas 80.5×72.5 cm. The canvas is a very old canvas which I was gifted. I left the roughness on the sides as I feel this adds to the charm of the artwork.

The land arm in the back, called Cerro Gordo, which is in La Herradura, seems to emerge in my latest paintings. I like to work in series and sometimes this is quite an intuitive process. What shows up in a painting is kind of happening and then I might use it in more paintings. When things happen in my art I just allow for that. And yes, it’s a Buddha impression again. For those who are following me this may not come as a surprise. I love painting Buddha images as they make me calm. La Herradura is the village where I live and the word itself means horseshoe. I wish this painting will bring happiness and luck for its future owner. If you like to get more updates about my books and my art, feel free to follow my Art and books Facebook page. Not that I’m trying to ‘bull-y’ you! ‘May you be’ is yet another painting of a bull in Spain. Symbol of this country with mountains and sea that attracts so many, including me, since I live in a small seaside village, embraced by mountains, in southern Spain. This Acrylic painting is 73×81 cm is painted on an old canvas which I was gifted and to me it feels like the energy of the canvas is adding to the attractiveness of this painting. This bull is part of a series of bull paintings. I like to paint friendly Spanish bulls and have created them with an intention in mind. A positive intention as I explain above. This painting is also for sale!

Last year I bought a number of very small board canvases, with the intention to create a number of small paintings. However, I discovered that I don’t like to work on small canvases. It’s just not my thing. I like to work rough and intuitive. So I decided to put all the canvases together and paint yet another bull. Yes, I was in the flow of bulls. It being the year of the ox might have something to do with it. I then decided to glue the individual canvases on a wooden board. The photo doesn’t really do it justice, as it does look better in real life. The wooden board is 62x90cm  and painted a dark purple. Two of the smaller canvas boards are sticking out slightly, I did that on purpose to make it less static.
